International School on
Advanced Functional Nanomaterials
AFuN25 - the International Summer School on Advanced Functional Nanomaterials - will be held in Palermo, Italy, from September 29th to October 1st, 2025. AFuN25 is partially funded by the TNE Project DeSK.
Nanomaterial science explores the unique properties and applications of materials at the nanoscale, where quantum and surface effects drive innovative advancements in technology, engineering and medicine. The AFuN25 summer School, open to master students, PhD students, postdocs and early researchers working in the field, will cover several emerging trends and hot sub-fields in nanomaterials, ranging from optical nanomaterials, plasmonic nanomaterials, nanomaterials for biomedical applications, porous nanomaterials, nanomaterials for photocatalysis, and more. The small size of the School will favor close interactions among participants, providing a perfect context for students to learn from experienced researchers about the latest trends in fundamental and applied nanomaterial science.
The School is highly interdisciplinary, and open to physicists, chemists, engineers and material scientists, bridging knowledge between students and researchers from several institutions around the world, and providing specialized training into several key topics. The lectures will focus on representative examples of state-of-the-art research on different types of nano-systems for functional applications in different techonologies.
Speakers are internationally well-known scientists working in nanomaterial science, bringing their recognized expertise to the benefits of attendees. Participants will also have the chance to present their own work in the form of posters.
AFuN25 is jointly organized by scientists from University of Palermo, Sao Paulo state University and University of Brasilia, in collaboration with AISF (Associazione Italiana Studenti di Fisica).
The number of participants is limited. Please apply as soon as possible!
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Palermo.
